You’ve made up
your mind that you will take up LAW. Now what? Choosing the right law school plays a
very important factor because this is where you will be molded, exposed in
different principles and viewpoints and this is the basis of a good foundation once
you take the BAR EXAM. Here are some points to consider.
School Ranking

This has been the indicator that
garnered standing ovation. The end of the tunnel in taking up Bachelor of Law
or Juris Doctor Law is to be a lawyer. The 4 or 5 years of dehydration, cardiac
arrest and mental torture don’t make sense if you'll not pass the bar exam.
Prestigious law school that has high passing percentage attracts more aspiring
students. Who would ignore the top 3 law schools. It gives an
impression that those schools have the best trainer in the field. Aside from that,
the possibility of getting hired is much apparent. However, the higher ranking
the school has, the more difficult the LAT is and the harder to maintain your
slot.
Top-notch

There are some schools that were
not mentioned in the top ten law schools but they consistently have at least
one representative in the list of top-notcher. Though it somehow connotes more
on student’s mental ability or motivation, it still has points. Remember most
number of presidents, justices and any elected and appointed officials are
top-notchers.
Location

This criterion was included due
to the fact that most of the law students are working. Time is of the essence
in law school. If you came from a brain-draining and nerve-racking recitation
with your “ALL FAIL” professor, the least thing you have in mind is to be stuck
in traffic or travel for hours after the class. Imagine if the travel you make
going to your school from your work and to your home would take 3-4 hours. 15
minutes stuck in traffic is already one case.
More time means more readings and rest.
Tuition

This is the most important
consideration. You were admitted in a top law school, you have the brain and
motivation, the location is at its finest, best professors in town but the
tuition is excessively high for an ordinary employee earning only 4 digit
salary in every cut-off would be illusionary. Setting up a clear, achievable
and realistic goal is extremely imperative because the
toughest decision to make is to stop law school when you are in the height of
craving knowledge only because you cannot afford paying your tuition anymore.
Those are just
few things to mention when choosing law school. I’m sure that everyone has tons
of reasons be it personal or not to ruminate before entering law school.
